GF.com Home Page Redesign


At GlobalFoundries, I worked on a home page redesign. For this project, I conducted competitor analysis and designed a home page tailored to customer needs.

    Project Overview


    The GF.com home page had to be visually appealing as well as customer-centric, providing them with the resources to navigate the website as efficiently as possible and drive up user engagement.

      Real estate on the home page is not being optimized to provide the customer with an overview of the important resources available on the website.  





        Competitive Analysis


        To begin understanding industry standards and researching competitors, I began by looking at websites such as Qualcomm, Intel, Nvidia, etc.

        Takeaways


        • Home page is typically divided into multiple sections, separated by contrasting color schemes to indicate a new section of information. This can feature news and events, careers, products, etc.
        • Landing screen incorporates a slideshow which recent news or important information
        • There is typically a footer that contains structured quick links as a secondary form of navigation to the top navigation bar, as well as external links such as social media pages.
        • Compelling imagery and video make the page more dynamic and appealing.




          Research


          Next steps were to organize the different sections of the page below the slideshow based on customer needs. Through collaboration with Product managers, Communications and Marketing specialists, I decided on:

          End-markets

          The first section showcases the different end-markets, linking to the different pages. The arrow is used to toggle back and forth, only showcasing three at a time.

          Blog and recent news articles

          The next section showcases our blog and recent news articles. The most recent blog post and three most recent news articles are clickable. This decision was made taking into account the frequency of the blog posts and news articles.

          GFConnect

          The next section displays the GF customer portal, GFConnect and prompts the customer to log in. The website provides the different use cases of this portal as a part of the rollout of this new feature.

          Company values and Careers

          The next section gives the user a sense of GlobalFoundries, outlining company values and objectives. This includes hyperlinks to the “About us” page and the “We Shape What’s Essential” marketing campaign. Imbedded is the next section, which highlights GF Careers and displays some relevant statistics.

          Footer

          Lastly, the footer is a secondary form of navigation, with a multitude of links that are divided into “Company” and “Quick Links” as well as links to social media pages.
